Silly Season

It is that time of the year when we receive emails from various media outlets telling us its our ‘lucky day’. We have been selected as one of the top 10 analyst firms in the industry and if we just cough up $5000 (or some similar amount), we will be covered as such in their next glorious issue extolling the top companies in the industry. It is an intriguing and innovative way to gain advertising revenue but let’s face facts – it is not an award but a paid advertisement. It is misleading and should not be allowed. Each year, I write a blog just like this to try to bring this to your attention. Many ‘awards’ in this industry are bought and paid for. This practice needs to stop.
